It’s late afternoon on 24th of December, and only hours before Christmas is upon us.
A busy Christmas fixture list for Chelsea is just around the corner too, with Ancelotti’s team due to face in-form Birmingham and then Fulham (without any strikers, it seems).
It’s been a busy run-up to Christmas so there hasn’t been much time to post over the past week or so – even on the events around John Terry’s burgeoning Cobham Tour enterprise. But I still wanted to make a quick post to wish everyone a happy Christmas.
bridgeviews.co.uk is now nearly seven months old, so I also wanted to say thanks to everyone’s who stopped by since June, and especially those that have posted comments: it’s great to see some healthy debate on these pages.
It’s certainly been an eventful half-year since this blog kicked off. In that time, I’ve blogged about Hiddink’s remarkable stats at Chelsea, Drogba’s selfless acts in the Ivory Coast and Ancelotti’s thriftiness.
I’ve also commented on rumours that Bolton could become Chelsea’s feeder club, and ridiculed suggestions that Chelsea alone are struggling to attract ‘big names’ to Stamford Bridge.
This blog hasn’t always had the same views as other Chelsea fans – including backing the club’s decision to sell the naming rights to Stamford Bridge if it makes financial sense. In between such rants I’ve written on hooliganism, how TV coverage could be damaging the game, Chelsea fans in America and the ridiculous and potentially dangerous queuing at Stamford Bridge.
More recently I’ve lambasted both Ian Wright and Joe Royle for their anti-Chelsea bias, all the while keeping up regular match reports and a detailed Chelsea stats page.
I’m glad some of these posts – and the 150-odd more – have been of interest. If anyone has any ideas for posts, features to include or figures to update the stats page with, please do drop a note here – I would love to hear from you.
In the meantime, have a great Christmas – and here’s to three points at Birmingham.
